U-Mail accounts are provided by the University to registered graduates and undergrads. Students enrolled through UCSB Extension Open University will also get accounts.
Students whose UCSB NetID accounts closed Summer 2018 and later will retain access to their UCSB email after their UCSB NetID account closes as long as they have set up Google 2SV by following these instructions here. Your UCSB NetID account will remain active as long as you are a registered student and for 13 months afterwards. As soon as the Registrar notes your lapsed status your 13 month countdown begins. Should you return to campus as a student in that window that countdown will cease.
If your UCSB NetID account has already closed, you can reach out to the Google 2SV host office - Information Technology Service. Please call 805-893-5000 between 8am and 5pm Pacific Monday through Friday and they'll assist you with Google 2SV setup.
Keep in mind, once your UCSB NetID account closes, while you'll retain access to your UCSB email with Google 2SV, you will not be able to change your password in the future. As such we usually suggest transferring your content over to a personal email to avoid losing access to it on account of a lost or phished password.
