GauchoSpace Pelican is the future GauchoSpace environment starting Winter Quarter 2022. On December 16th, 2021, GauchoSpace Pelican will become production GauchoSpace and the current GauchoSpace will be archived. GauchoSpace Pelican will have all of the same features and functionality of GauchoSpace, its purpose is to house Winter 2022 course sites so that they are on what will become production GauchoSpace on December 16th, 2021 when what was previously GauchoSpace will become the archive.
When and how do I access GauchoSpace Pelican?
Instructors: On October 26th, 2021, GauchoSpace Pelican will be available via the UCSB Site Creator block on their GauchoSpace dashboard. Instructors will need to create course sites for Winter 2022 on GauchoSpace Pelican.
Students: For Fall 2021, students will see Winter 2022 enrolled courses on a block on their GauchoSpace dashboard. On December 16th, 2021, students will see their winter courses when they log into GauchoSpace.
What will be archived on December 16th, 2021?
- All academic courses from Summer 2015 - Fall 2021 and personal sandboxes.
- All departmental project sites will not be archived and will be migrated to the new GauchoSpace.
How will I access the Archive?
After December 16, 2021, instructors and students will need to access GauchoSpace sites for courses taught between Summer 2015 and Fall 2021 via a different URL. This URL will be posted on GauchoSpace.
Will I still have access to my course sites between Summer 2015 - Fall 2021?
- Instructors: Will be able to access all previous course materials through the Archive URL which will be linked in GauchoSpace. Course materials will be easily imported into the new GauchoSpace.
- Students: Generally able to access course sites from the current and one previous quarter (unless the instructor has made a current course unavailable to students, or an older course site available again). Accordingly, students will be able to access Fall 2021 course sites on the archive until the start of Spring 2022 when they will be hidden from students.
How can I copy materials from previous courses to my Winter 2022 course site?
Instructors and Editing TAs can import materials from previous Summer 2015 - Fall 2021 sites or personal sandboxes through the new “Restore archive” block. This block is available on Winter 2022 course pages. Detailed instructions can be found here: How can I import course materials to a Winter 2022 Course?
