Using the Video Editor, you can delete existing primary or secondary streams. By default, the Panopto Recorder captures your webcam video and microphone audio as the primary stream. The slides and computer screen are recorded as the secondary stream. You may delete either of these streams in the video editor. Instructions for both are posted below.
How to Delete a Primary Stream (Remove "Talking-Head" Webcam Feed)
Removing the primary stream can be a little tricky because Panopto combines the audio and video feed from your microphone and webcam into one source, the Primary source. If you delete the Primary source, there will be no audio stream present in your video. Unfortunately, you cannot individually delete an audio track or video feed through the GauchoCast Video Editor. A workaround solution, however, will be detailed below.
- First, you'll have to download an audio-only version or "Audio Podcast" of your video. From your folder library, hover over the video in question and open the "Settings" menu.
- Click on the "Outputs" tab and look for "Audio Podcast". Click on the "Download Audio Podcast" link. This will download the audio-only track from your video in .mp4 format.
- Next, open the Video Editor by clicking on the "Edit" button over the video.
- Navigate to the "Streams" tab on the left-side panel and select, "Add a Stream".
- Drag and drop the .mp4 audio podcast file from your computer into the "Upload primary audio or video" box. The upload process will begin immediately.
- When it is done processing, you should have two primary streams listed in the "Streams" tab. The audio-only track will have a microphone icon attached to it. The combined stream will be called "Camera" and will have a camera icon attached to it.
- Click on the three dots for the "Camera" stream and select "Delete".
- Now your GauchoCast session will be comprised of the "audio-only" track as the Primary Source and the screen recording of your slides as the Secondary Source, with the "talking head" video feed removed completely (audio track layered over screen capture of slides).
Make sure to click "Apply" to save and publish the changes.
How to Delete a Secondary Stream (Remove Screen Capture/Slides Feed)
- Open the Video Editor by clicking on the "Edit" button over the video.
- Navigate to the "Streams" tab on the left-side panel.
- Locate the stream titled, "Screen" under "Secondary" sources. Click the three little dots and select "Delete".
- Now your GauchoCast session will be comprised of the Primary stream only (webcam video + microphone audio only, no screen capture).
Make sure to click "Apply" to save and publish the changes.
