This article is part of the GauchoCast Editing Series. For more editing topics, please visit the GauchoCast Editing Overview page. Instructions on how to embed a quiz are detailed below with screenshots. Alternatively, you may watch the following tutorial video from Panopto: How to Add a Quiz to a Video.
In the Video Editor, you have the ability to add quiz questions to any GauchoCast video at any point during the session. Video playback will automatically pause for viewers when the timeline reaches a quiz set. Viewers will have to complete the quiz questions before being able to resume the video. Quizzes can only be taken by students that are signed into GauchoCast. In this section, you will learn how to:
Create a New Quiz
- Launch the Video Editor for the chosen session.
- Click in the timeline to navigate to the place in the video where you would like to insert a quiz. The vertical red line will indicate where the quiz will be added to the video.
- Navigate to the Quizzes tab on the left-hand panel and select "Add a Quiz."
- A quiz window will appear in the secondary stream window where you can fill in the details for your quiz questions.
- Within the form, you can select the drop-down menu in the top right corner to show different types of quiz questions. The quiz options include True/False, Multiple Choice, Multiple Select, and Fill in the Blank. The default is multiple choice.
-
- Multiple Choice gives you the option to have several answers present, but only one answer can be chosen as correct. When the option is first chosen, there will only be two answer fields. Another answer field can be added by clicking the "Add Answer..." button. You need to have the correct answer selected before adding another question.
-
- True/False gives you the option to ask a True or False question.
-
- Multiple Select gives you the option to have several answers present and more than one can be selected as correct. Note: when using multiple select, all correct answers must be selected by the viewer in order to be marked as a correct response.
-
- Fill in the Blank gives you the option to ask questions that require users to fill in answers to the question. The prompt will ask for the correct answer to be provided.
- To remove an answer, click on the "X" to the right of it.
- When you are ready to input the next question, click "Add a Question."
