This article is part of the GauchoCast Editing Series. For more editing topics, please visit the GauchoCast Editing Overview page. Instructions on how to add or edit slides are detailed below with screenshots. Alternatively, you may watch the following video from Panopto: How to Add and Edit Slides in the Editor.
You can add, remove, or replace slides inside the GauchoCast Video Editor. If you have previous Panopto recordings with existing slides embedded in the videos, you can update the title card slide, replace slides that contain mistakes, or simply remove slides you no longer wish to include in your video. Topics covered in this article:
Add Slides
- Open the Video Editor
- Navigate to the "Slides" tab on the left-hand side, then select "Add a Presentation."
- Browse for a PowerPoint or KeyNote presentation file to upload. It will begin processing automatically.
- When the slide deck is processed, you will have to insert each slide into the stream by clicking on the "Plus" icon next to each slide.
- The slides will be inserted wherever the red verticle bar is positioned on the timeline.
Remove Slides
- Open the Video Editor
- Navigate to the "Contents" tab on the left-hand side and locate the slide you want to remove.
- Click on the three verticle dots next to the slide and select "Delete."
Replace/Update Existing Slides
- Create a new presentation file (PowerPoint or Keynote) containing only the replacement slide(s).
- Open the Video Editor.
- Navigate to the "Slides" tab on the left-hand side, then select "Add a Presentation."
- Select the PowerPoint or KeyNote presentation file containing the updated slide(s). It will begin processing automatically.
- Next, click on the slide you want to replace within the "SL" timeline stream. If multiple slides are stacked on top of each other, click on the group and a bubble will open.
- In the bubble, click on the specific slide you want to replace. To confirm, a green bar will be displayed over the selected slide. The red verticle bar will also position itself to the exact "start-time" of the selected slide on the timeline.
- Click on "Delete" (trash icon).
- Leave the red bar in place (do not click anywhere else on the timeline for now). Navigate to the "Slides" tab on the left side panel. Choose the presentation file that contains the updated slide. Scroll through the list and locate the replacement slide. Click on the "Plus" icon.
- The updated slide will be inserted at the location marked by the red verticle bar.
The slide has now been updated! However, if you recorded your computer's screen ("screen capture") during the original Panopto Recording, you will have one extra step. You can confirm by checking if your video includes an "S1" or "S#" stream. You will have to omit the section on the timeline where the previous slide was displayed on the screen. If you did not record your screen during the Panopto recording, you are done.
- Toggle the "Screen" icon in the player window. Then, hover your mouse over the "S1" stream on the timeline and locate the time window that the previous slide was on display for.
- Once you find the section you need to cut out, click and drag the gray line to trim out the segment you do not want to include in your video. The trimmed segment will appear "grayed out." Make sure that only the "S1" segment is "cut" and not all the streams.
- If done successfully, the video player will display a static image of the updated slide once it reaches the "cut" segment on the timeline. When the "cut" segment is done, the original video recording of your slides will resume as normal (S1 stream). You can repeat these steps as many times as you'd like for other slides.
