Canvas, GauchoCast, and Panopto are used together to deliver content for your UCSB course.
Canvas is the learning management system for UCSB courses and projects, allowing instructors to create online sites for course materials and student activities.
GauchoCast is a video hosting website that processes and stores video media. GauchoCast videos are distributed to students enrolled in your course using UCSB Canvas. GauchoCast has unlimited storage for videos with streaming and editing capabilities, is FERPA compliant, provides multiple privacy control settings, and allows users the option to embed quizzes and request captioning.
Panopto is the recording software UCSB recommends to record your screen, PowerPoint presentations, annotations, and more. The Panopto software can be downloaded through GauchoCast.
Videos should be recorded using Panopto and uploaded to GauchoCast. After your video has been uploaded and processed in GauchoCast, you can make your video available to students through your UCSB Canvas course page.
