When scheduling meetings through Zoom LTI Pro, users may notice that the Alternative Hosts setting cannot be modified. Users will be unable to manually add or edit the Alternative Host selection. The Alternative Host field has been locked in order to automatically import TAs and co-instructors and assign them as co-hosts for your Zoom meetings. Please note, instructors and TAs will only get listed as an Alternative Host once they access the Zoom LTI Pro link for the same course through GauchoSpace.
If a user has not been automatically assigned as an Alternative Host, make sure that the user is listed as a TA or Instructor on GauchoSpace and then have them access the LTI link from their own account. Once they access the LTI link for the first time, they will be automatically assigned as an Alternative Host for all newly created meetings.
Alternative Options
If you wish to modify the locked Alternative Host selection, you may do so through the UCSB Zoom web portal page.
- Schedule a meeting through Zoom LTI Pro on GauchoSpace, as you normally would (note - alternative host will be greyed out).
- Navigate to the UCSB Web Portal page: https://ucsb.zoom.us/meeting#/upcoming, and sign in with your UCSBnetID.
- Hover over the meeting you scheduled through the LTI integration and click on EDIT.
- Scroll down through the meeting details and you should see the "Alternative Hosts" text box towards the bottom. Enter (or remove) the user's email address here and click "Save."
Through this workaround, you should be able to assign any UCSB Zoom user as an Alternative Host or edit an existing selection imported from LTI Pro. Note, if you edit any other meeting settings in the future, you may have to adjust your Alternative Host selections once again.
