Locate within GauchoCast (not Canvas) and select a (or desired selection of) video(s) you wish to transfer (1). Select all sessions in the current folder by checking the left-most box in the toolbar. Choose either Copy or Move (2) from the toolbar. Please see notes below for detailed differences between COPY vs MOVE functions.
-
Select the folder (or type in a folder name) that you wish to transfer the session to from the provided dropdown menu.
-
Once a folder is selected, click on the green Copy/Move button and GauchoCast will begin the transfer process. This may take some time.
-
When the video transfer is complete 'done' will replace the copy button and a checkmark will appear next to the transferred video. You may now close the window.
-
Some details to note regarding relocated sessions:
-
COPY creates a duplicate video, along with a unique URL, in the folder you choose and leaves the original in the source folder. This is fine in cases where a past course is not duplicated in Canvas.
-
MOVE transfers the existing video into your folder of choice (e.g. current provisioned course folder). After the move, the session video will no longer be available in the source folder. This is ideal for preserving the original embedded links when duplicating past courses in Canvas.
-
Copied sessions retain the original owner(s) permissions. For example, if an instructor copies a video into a TA’s folder, the instructor will be listed as the owner of the video.
-
Copied videos retain availability settings set on the original session. If a video was set to only be available during a specific date/time, the copied session will remain available to viewers during the original date/time.
-
Both copied and moved videos inherit viewer permissions from the folder they are placed in. If a video was originally accessible in a public folder, then is copied to a private folder, the copied version will become private and viewable only by those authorized users.
