For Spring 2019, GauchoSpace had a major update, based on the latest long-term support release for Moodle, 3.5.
The update includes hundreds of bug fixes and long-term security support through May 2021. The primary look and feel of GauchoSpace will remain the same but there are a number of new features, additional tools, and many overall enhancements.
Highlights of this update include:
Google integration, including access to UCSB Google Drive accounts for file uploads and student assignment submissions, as well as support for Google's Course Kit (beta) assignment activity
New Course Timeline on the user Dashboard for better visibility and quicker access to upcoming activities across all courses
Student Roster Overview for instructors, including integration with UCSB student ACCESS card photos
Analytics Graphs Block and Grade Distribution Report for instructors to better visualize grade and other course participation activity
Timed Forum Posts, including for course announcements
Expanded file format compatibility for the "assignment viewer" tool. Graders are now able to view and comment on student files that are saved in the following formats: .docx, .pages, and .gdoc. Previously instructors could only view .pdf formatted submissions.
