The Photo Roster allows instructors and TAs to view profile photos of participants in the course. With the tool, you can mask and unmask student names to assist with learning the names of students. You can also hide students without photos.
The Photo Roster displays Canvas profile pictures. Students can upload a profile picture to their Canvas account through these steps here: How do I add a profile picture in my user account?
Here's how to add the Photo Roster to your Canvas course:
1. Log in to Canvas and navigate to your course site.
2. Click Settings in the left-hand navigation. Then, select the Navigation tab.
3. Scroll down to the hidden tools section and find UCSB Photo Roster. Click the triple dots to the right hand side and click +Enable. Then, click Save.
4. You will now see UCSB Photo Roster in the course navigation menu. This menu item will only appear for Instructors and TAs.
5. With the UCSB Photo Roster, you can:- Mask All - This hides all participant names. Click on an individual image to reveal the participant's name.
- Unmask All - This shows all participant names. Click on an individual image to hide the participant's name.
- Show/Hide Users with no Image - This allows you to show all participants in the course or show only those with profile images uploaded.
