In courses that use the gradebook function, students are able to view their course grade in the User report. Students can also view their Overview report (list of all courses and grades) and Forecast report (if enabled, a student can enter future assignment grades to see the potential impact on their course grade).
Instructors can configure how these reports are displayed to students. This is done via Course grade settings.
To update your Course grade settings, follow these steps:
- Open Grades in GauchoSpace (from My Course>Grades or from the Administration block)
- Click on Gradebook setup. Then, click Course grade settings.
- Scroll to the appropriate subsection and make any desired setting changes.

- General settings - set the category and course total columns to the left or the right position
- Grade item settings - display letter grades or percentages and update how many decimal places are displayed
- Forecast report - enable the forecast report and update how this report looks for students
- Overview report - update settings that are displayed on a student's Overview report.
- User report - control how the User report looks for students. For example, instructors can choose whether students see their class rank, feedback, a letter grade, etc.

- At the bottom of the page, click Save Changes.
The General settings section allows instructors to configure basic gradebook settings.
- Aggregation position: Whether the category and course total columns are displayed to the left or the right in gradebook reports
- Min and max grades used in calculation: Whether the new grade will be displayed if the maximum or minimum grades are changed after student has been inititally graded.
The Grade item settings section allows instructors to configure how grade items are displayed to students.
- Grade display type: Whether to show grades as Real, as a Percentage, or as a Letter.
- Overall decimal places: Adjust how many decimal places are displayed for grade items. This setting has no effect on calculations (which are made with an accuracy of 5 decimal points).
The Forecast report allows students and instructors to easily make grade predictions based on current grades. By default, this report is turned off but can be enabled on Course grade settings>Forecast report. To learn more about the Forecast tool, visit this help article here: Grade Forecast Tool.
- Range decimal places: Adjust how many decimal places are displayed on the Forecast report
- Show hidden items: Whether hidden grade items are hidden entirely from the Forecast report or if the hidden item names are visible to students
- Hide totals if they contain hidden items: Whether totals that contain hidden grade items are shown to students on the Forecast report
- Enable for students: Whether students are able to use the Forecast report in the course
- Must Make table enabled: Whether to display a "must make" pop-up when only one grade item is missing from the calculation
- Debounce wait time: Number of milliseconds the system will wait before calculating grades to allow for additional user input
The Overview report allows provides students with a list of all courses and grades. Course grade settings>Overview report allows instructors to further configure the display of the student's overview report.
- Show rank: Whether to show the position of the student in relation to the rest of the class on the Overview report
- Hide totals if they contain hidden items: Whether totals that contain hidden grade items are shown to students on the Overview report
By default, the User report allows a student to view:
- Grades, including both the raw score and the percentage for each grading item
- Feedback from instructors/TAs provided to a grade item (from within the GauchoSpace grading interface)
- A link to the assignment or quiz
Course grade settings>User report allows instructors to further configure the display of the student's User report.
- Show rank: Whether to show the position of the student in relation to the rest of the class for each grade item
- Show percentage: Whether to show the percentage score for each grade item
- Show grades: Whether to show the grade earned on a grade item to students
- Show feedback: Whether to show feedback from grade items to students
- Show weightings: Whether to show the grade weightings of the grade item or category to students
- Show average: Whether to show the average score for each grade item (Note, students may be able to determine other's grades if course enrollment is very low)
- Show letter grades: Whether to show the letter grade to students
- Show weights: Whether to show a column that indicates how much each grade item contributes to the total course percentage
- Show ranges: Whether to show the range of scores earned for each grade item
