Many components of a course site's gradebook have corresponding activities that are accessible from the home page (for example Assignments, Quizzes, and graded Forums). While grade items for these activities are created automatically, instructors often want to add items for other components of their course's overall grade that do not have corresponding activities (such as for participation points, or assignments conducted offline, for instance). In these cases, instructors can add a "manual grade item" in their course's Gradebook set up page.
- Log in to GauchoSpace and enter your course site.
- In the Administration block click Gradebook setup.
- Scroll all the way to the bottom of the page and click Add grade item.
- Enter the grade item name.
- Click Show more... if you would like to specify a parent category for the new item, as needed.
- Click Save changes.
- Log in to GauchoSpace and enter your course site.
- Click on Gradebook Setup in the Administration block.
- Click on the View tab in the top right and then on the Single view sub tab.
- Choose a grade item or a student to edit.
- Input the grade(s) in the grade field and if desired, any feedback in the feedback field(s).
- Click Update.
Note: If you are grading an assignment activity that has been created on GauchoSpace, you should update grades within the assignment itself.
- Log in to GauchoSpace and enter your course site.
- On the main course site page, click "Turn Editing On".
- In the Administration Block click Gradebook setup.
- Under the Actions column to the right of the name of the grade item, click the Edit drop-down, then click Delete for each individual item you'd like to delete. There is not currently a way to delete multiple grade items from the gradebook at once.
Note: Manual grade items are easily recognizable in the gradebook based on their icon:
GauchoSpace Activities cannot be deleted in the gradebook, you must delete those items in the main course site page.
How to delete GauchoSpace Activities such as "Assignments" and "Quizzes":
- Follow steps 1 & 2 above
- Locate the activity, click Edit, and then click Delete (from the drop-down menu).
*This will delete the activity completely, including any student data.
Note: Use the "Mass Actions" Block to delete multiple activities at once. Below you Administration Block, you will see an option to "Add a block". Click the "Add" drop down menu, and select "Mass Actions".
